It is Labor Day and those white shoes die today! No white after labor day! I grew up with that rule--no white after labor day. Did you? My mother lived by that rule and so did all my aunts and cousins. There was no way we could ever wear summer white after today. The color changed. We could wear "winter white" or shades of ecru. "Winter white" could only be worn in winter, from January to easter. No ecru could be worn in the "ber" months. (September, October, November, December) So no white or ecru in the fall at all.
It kills me when I see people in my office wearing white after labor day. I really do go up to them and tell then "no white after labor day!" They look at me like I am crazy. I look at them like they are crazy right back and ask, " have you not heard of that before????" Most of them have but choose to ignore it. Most of them do take heed and remember.
Last year a man who works in another part of the office had on a pair of white summer slacks the week of labor day. I immediately went up to him and asked if his wife saw what he had on before he left the house. He looked at me kind of sheepishly and said "no white after labor day, right?" I nodded. He said he wife had menitoned that to him but he did not want to change clothes. He took heed.
So all you white shoe, open toe, sandal wearing people better break out those shoes for the last time today and wear the hell out of them! It is your last chance. When the clock strikes midnight tonight, you will be a fashion bumpkin in those white shoes!

"Crocodile Hunter" Killed By a Stingray
Crikey! The crocs did not kill him. The stingray did. The barb of the stingray pierced his heart and he died from cardiac arrest before paramedics could reach him. Steve Irwin seemed indestructible to me. Nothing could harm him. He was always amazing to me...the things he did with those animals. The danger that he seemed fearless in getting close to. I loved watching his show and so did dirty Fila. He was fearless!

Australia and the world has lost a great naturalist. He packed 10 years of living into each year of his life, it seemed. At least he went doing something he loved. He was doing research for a documentary off the coast of Australia. He really was a bright star in the universe. My condolences to his family.
The quirky Australian naturalist Steve Irwin, who gained worldwide fame as TV's khaki-clad Crocodile Hunter, died today after a stingray barb pierced his chest while he was diving.The accident happened while Mr Irwin, 44, was filming an underwater documentary off Port Douglas on the far north-east coast of Australia, according to witnesses and emergency officials.Full story here.

Climbing on Seats
At my church, there are a lot of children who like to clamber on the seats; climbing them, jumping on them or just putting their feet up on them.
Some parents are careful enougth to ensure that their children remove their shoes before doing this. However, some parents allow their children to climb on top of the seats with their shoes on. This is very anti-social.
It is not nice to sit on a seat where some child's dirty shoes have been. If you have children and attend church or any other kind of public meeting, please ensure they remove their shoes before climbing and jumping on the seats.

Trump has on his Firing Shoes!
The Trumpster, Donald Trump has fired Carolyn Kepcher! Can you believe it? Her shoes got too big for the Trump Organization. She wanted to pursue her own endeavers and Trump said she was too busy turning herself into a celebrity. Man! The show will not be the same. I really have respect for her and all that she has accomplished. She does not play! She might just have her own show some day! She already wrote a book.
Carolyn Kepcher, a Trump organization executive famous for her role as a tough-talking judge on the hit television reality show "The Apprentice," is being replaced on the show by his daughter and is no longer with the company, a Trump representative said on Thursday.
The representative declined further comment, but the New York Post said Donald Trump's TV sidekick was fired after spending too much time cultivating her own celebrity with speaking engagements.
Kepcher had been with the real estate mogul for more than 10 years, most recently serving as chief operating officer of Trump National Golf Club in Westchester, New York, and helping manage another Trump golf club in New Jersey.
In an e-mailed statement from a representative, Kepcher said, "Donald and I had different visions for my future role in the company."
She also said she was grateful for the opportunities she had had with the Trump organization and is confident she is well prepared for future endeavors.
I wonder if he called her into the "real" boardroom. Carolyn, you're FIRED!
