I Heart Sales.

Sooooo, to be perfectly honest, I didn't like these at first. I might have even said that they were hideous. I know I thought it at least.

Something magical happens when you see a YSL shoe on sale. You go- hmmm, maybe I should give that a second look. And then, sometimes when you do... you like it.

Case in point. I saw these on the sale rack at Bergdorf, and figured I hadn't given them a fair shot and never actually tried them on. So I did, and you know... I kinda love them. They look great with my JBrand zipper jeans and they aren't as over exposed as my TribToo pumps.
I wore them to dinner tonight and was pleasantly surprised at their comfort and that the tractor bottom does wonders on icy and snowy patches of concrete. Haha. My new "walking" shoes.

So anyway- time for you to judge. What do you think??

Tomorrow it's back to California. I didn't make it out of here without shopping for myself, but at least the things I did buy were at HUGE discounts. I got these YSLs for like, 60% off and then I got THE SICKEST Jill Sander boots for a whopping 80% off!! Amazing. (I'll post about those when I get home)
I also got a Marc by MJ coat for I dunno what % off... but it was a good deal. ;)
Pretty good for a shopaholic, huh?

Ben, don't be mad! We'll get our countertops soon!

Valentines Schmalentines...

I for one, am not a big fan of Valentine's day. It's pretty silly and I think it puts a lot of pressure on dudes and they hate it most of the time. It's kind of a selfish holiday, no?
Plus, my baby's nice to me every day, so I don't need a holiday for that. ;)

ANYWAY, enough self-righteous ranting. hahaha

Though I'm apposed to the holiday, I'm always up for a theme and a reason to wear something to go with it. I love gaudy Christmas sweaters and Halloween costumes, and on Valentines Day... I go for the girly hearts and pink, white and red.
Here's my first attempt at using Polyvore.

hearts on shoes

Yay! I went into McQueen yesterday and saw those hot pink heart peep toes in person. I think the heart opening is a little too big and I hate when there's too much toe action going on.
I still love that Vivienne Westwood for Melissa shoe (the pink one with the black hearts) but won't get them 'cause Pamela Anderson kinda ruined them for me.

Really Bad Snow

This week we are having the worst snow since 1991. It has been quite bad in Stevenage.

I doubt many people are wearing shoes in their homes.

People entering the apartment next to mine are leaving shoes outside their door. I ma doing the same. Nobody wants snow on their carpet.

How to Prepare For Pointe Shoes and Prevent Dance Injuries

Prepare, prepare, prepare, for dancing ballet in pointe shoes. Learn how to prevent dance injuries like a sprained ankle or a ballet knee injury years before you, or your child is looking for exactly the right fit in pointe shoes. Even recreational dancers who may leave ballet classes for hip hop, jazz, salsa, cheer leading or any other style of dance, benefit from learning how to do basic classical ballet technique correctly.

The basic ballet movements and ballet positions can be executed correctly by almost any dance student. Students who do not have the physical attributes of turnout, flexibility, long legs/short body, long arms and long necks, can still learn to do ballet correctly enough to advance.

In some ballet schools, teachers actually believe that a student will never be able to do certain ballet movements because they lack "X" physical attribute. Unfortunately some students absorb this negativity whether the teacher voices it or not. It's a shame.

If you feel like you are not progressing and you do not get the coaching you need in ballet class, read, read, read. There is detailed information available about ballet technique and also there is plenty of help in the area of anatomy and anatomical correctness in ballet movement. The all too common sprained ankles and knee injuries of ballet/sports/fitness can be avoided, for you.

The trick is how to get YOUR body to do THAT. If you are a few degrees too many from the ballet ideal, your teacher may not be able or may not be willing to help you. However, you can learn what you need to do to develop the correct application of for instance, a demi plie, onto a correctly postured releve with a correctly stretched arch and ankle.

If you aspire to become a performer in another dance style such as jazz or hip hop, your longevity in dance will depend on the correct use of your body. If you aspire to dance ballet in pointe shoes, you need to be sure that your time and effort and the thousands of plies, degages and battment tendus are not being practiced with errors that will lead to injury.

Your basic dance movements imitate the advanced and sometimes intricate classical choreography. Modern ballet and modern dance choreography often cannot be imitated by basic ballet movements, but you are more prepared for that if you know how to move and prevent injury.

Take advantage of the wealth of information available at The Ballet Store in books (print and downloads)and on DVDs. You can learn what you need to know to prepare to dance in pointe shoes and prevent ballet injuries.

Givenchy - Lace-Up Sandals

BANANAS! Now here is a lace up I can get on board with. You may or may not remember my recent post featuring shoes with lace up detailing and how I was on the fence about this up and coming hot shoe style. However, this Givenchy sandal has me all a twitter. The designers got it right with this little number. The silouhette is breathtaking and the lace up detail manages to be feminine and flirty and not overwhelm the shoe. These bad boys are crazy hot, I tell you! Crazy hot!
