Why So Big?

Ok so there's something I've noticed in the last few years that drives me INSANE! And now that I'm going to tell you about it, you're going to notice it (if you didn't already) all the time and you're gonna be SO pissed at me for pointing it out ;)

What is it you ask? Celebrities wearing shoes that are at least a size too big on the red carpet. Or blue carpet. Whatever. WHY??
Maybe it's because stylists usually put the outfits together and sometimes the celebs don't try them on until the last minute? Still, weird. Especially when they're wearing the same brands over and over again. Figure it out ladies.

 TOO BIG.

TOO BIG.

TOO BIG!

 TOO BIG.

Weird right? And it happens all the time. Thoughts??

(thanks to hottheels blog for a couple of these images)

xox,

Hey Sneaky Girls!

I'm super excited for my friend and fellow shoe designer Seth Campbell!! His super hot sneaker line just hit Saks.com and got rave reviews. They made Page Six and are already a huge hit with celebs like Madonna, Miley Cyrus, Gwen Stefani, Fergie, Kristen Stewart and Drew Barrymore

I'm not a sneaker kinda girl but on the rare occasion that calls for a sneaker, I would be proud to be caught in UES. These two styles are my favorite...

I just may have to get the snake ones. They're pretty amazing. :)

Met Cosume Gala... Best and Worst (According to Me)

So I like to leave red carpet/runway reviews to the professionals but sometimes, like at the Oscars, I feel sassy and want to tell you guys how I feel. Here goes.

First? Well Gwen Stefani of course. She is so gorgeous it's stupid. And that husband of hers aint to bad. ;)

42m

Another favorite? Chloe Sevigny... Always stunning. I love that she's wearing a short dress. So cute. Cute shoes too!

19m

Oh... are these M.I.A.'s sisters?? What's that you say? That one in the middle is not a sister? WHAT? It's Alexander Wang?? Oops.
Well whatever. M.I.A. looks like she's making the (pardon my vulgarity) "eat my box" gesture with her fingers. And her dress is Alexander Wang for Gap. Though I doubt we'll ever see it in stores. I mean, could you imagine??

83m

Leave it to Kristin Stewart to look awkward in Chanel. Nice hair...

84m

Oh. Hello Balenciaga shoes. I love you...

81m

Ok I love me some Karl but in this case I love the fishy lip kiss in the background better.
I mean the woman Mr. Lagerfeld is with looks like she's wearing a beach coverup.
...Is that Angelyne back there??

51m

Hello Louboutin for Marchesa runway shoes. Hello lady. You're tall.

37m

Well of course the Marchesa girls are in the same shoes. But wait... they're tall too. Is it the shoes?? Love love love.

23m

And on a different part of the carpet... A toga party.

91m

Weirder still? Tina Fey in a pantsuit? Very strange.

53m

But look! BOOBIES! Anorexia boobies...

11m

Chubbly bubbly boobies! And small animals attacking shoulders!

89m

And finally, Zac Posen shows up with his fairy godmother. Magical.

Bippity boppity boo!

That's my two cents. If you want real coverage... check one of these:

Personally, I blame Zooey Deschanel...

It all started when watching '500 Days of Summer' a while back, when I decided that Zooey Deschanel had cool hair. She had a proper fringe (or 'bangs' if we consider she is American). That was months ago and yesterday I went to the hairdresser and had the very same proper fringe cut into my hair. I sported this look in my 20's...so I now have that rather freakish sensation of having 20something hair and a 30something face...hmmm

So the verdict on the Zooey do - female responses have been good. I personally am liking it. My husband however, as arguably the most important male contingent thinks its quite a 'severe look'. Double hmmmm.

Will now dwell on some Zooey pictures and try to decide if I did the right thing...afterall what does he know?!

Love SJP...

There's alot of Oscar dress commentary around this morning and so there should be - we were not disappointed! I find Oscar night perfection intriguing - how do they manage it? I know there is a build-up of diet and skincare, one imagines GALLONS of water drunk. Not to mention designer-dress-testing, jewellery-matching, bag-choosing, shoe-checking, makeup and hair-doing...to get to this moment of beautiful red carpet finery that we all so enjoy.

For me Sarah Jessica Parker's look was a favourite, wonderfully showcased here in detail by the BBC - God bless the BBC. I do love her style...the colour (palest yellow on one of the first days in Spring), the detailing (silver touches, perfect with diamonds), the hair (really not that many women can carry off that completely scraped back look), the bracelets (a stack of yummy diamonds all different; not too matchy).

Love SJP. We all secretly want to be her 'Carrie' character - what's not to want? She married Big, she has a set of great girlfriends with whom she endlessly lunches, gets to wear fabulous clothes, she writes for Vogue, lives in a NY Brownstone...I could go on...

But in real life...I loved her Oscar night choice.

Say hello to Paris...

Children back at school today - some silence for the first time in two weeks! I am guiltily pleased (delighted?) as I can now put my house back together, re-group, gather my thoughts. I went for a run today (even in the rain...)...hmm what happened to that residual fitness? I limped around my normal circuit. But still it felt good to be able to do it.

Meanwhile my husband is at a corporate event in Las Vegas - now to say I am envious, well that would be a slight understatement! I do have a soft spot for that place, as my previous post alludes to. I know - Vegas is hardly a corporate mecca but apparently its something to do with the capacity it has for large groups of people (uh huh, yea really). So I get a text on Saturday night saying that he is standing next to Paris Hilton in a nightclub...umm corporate entertainment? It seems Paris was in town celebrating her birthday...

It wasn't this Paris...

It was this Paris...

So that's nice; I am doing laundry, he is celebrity spotting!

L.A.M.B. Afterparty

After an awesome L.A.M.B. show it was time to party! A quick trip back to the apartment and an outfit change later, it was back to Milk Studios for a cocktail party to honor Gwen and her successful collection.
We were there for about half an hour when she showed up and was instantly mobbed by photogs and well-wishers. Fellow celebs included Kelly Osbourne (who looked AMAZING and so teeny tiny) and Kelly Bensimon.
Gwen looked drop dead as usual and was so sweet despite all the commotion around her. I tried to stay back and let everyone get their time with her. You guys would die laughing if someone took a picture of me at one point. I was standing next to Gwen talking to her business partner about the line when Kelly Osbourne showed up. Well, these two photographers wanted to get good pics (one is the picture below) so they squeezed between Gwen and I squishing me up against the couch I was leaning on. It was really funny and if I took myself too seriously I would have been pissed.

ANYWAY- Gwen then called me over to where she was, which just tells you how unbelievably sweet she is. A party full of people and she still took time to talk and hang out for a few minutes.
I finally got a semi decent photo with her after working with her for over 2 years. haha
YAY!

I wore a Robbi and Nikki top with silk shorts and sweater tights and of course, my L.A.M.B heels.

Never enough things of beauty...

Another week has passed, still loving to blog :-) Here are the latest lovelies to look at...what a wonderful pastime it is looking for beautiful things that bring a smile or that unmistakable whooosh of 'I love that!'....

This is the Carlton Hotel in Cannes, where we went last summer. This was taken from a moving car travelling down La Croisette...observing the beautiful people.

Ballet shoes...the most magical thing to me is ballet at the Royal Opera House in London...

Absolutely quintessential Portuguese doorway...love the Algarve...

Natalia Vodianova...up close...

Big meeting, big shoes...

What is it about confidence and high heels? I had a big meeting at work today and instinctively choose my highest-without-being-just-silly work heels. This, even though my feet were safely tucked under a table for most of the time during the meeting. There is just something about that elevation of high heels that is so important to mental confidence! In Gwyneth Paltrow's well-publicised return to the limelight in 2008, what was referenced the most was her selection of high heels...and you can see why...
