Disappointed

Oh Prada! Why do you build me up baby just to let me down, and mess me around? ;)

Remember I did that post like forever ago (ok, 5 months ago) about how OBSESSED I was with the runway shoes? Yes. Good times.
Well that post wasn't even half of it. As soon as I decided that I needed them in my clutches I drove my ass over to the Prada boutique and hunted down a sales person and practically begged her to help me out.
"Can't I pre-order them? I can pay now! I neeeeed these shoes!"
I was a woman possessed. Like a huntress stalking my prey... I'd make these shoes my own!

It took THREE visits before someone took me seriously (weird, right? why are you saying no to a sale?) Maybe they mistook my passion as psycho-ness. Maybe because I was 5 months ahead of the ship date. Whatever.

So I pre-ordered 2 shoes a couple of weeks ago, both wedges, without seeing them in person. Going off the runway photos. This wedge in grey with a pink stripe at the bottom (!!!!!)

And a green and black striped one with a peep toe and and orange stripe at the bottom. (can't find a photo)

My Disappointment? Well, sometimes department stores get versions of the shoes before the boutiques do. Makes NO sense but happens all the time. I saw some wedges at Nordstrom and they were less that impressive. Why? The height. The runway shoes were sky high, just how I like my shoes. Like many designers do, to the frustration of people who believe the higher the better, they lowered the shoes that were made for the masses. They look kinda dumbed down and not nearly as exciting. Miuccia has played this trick on me before.

With this shoe (circa 2008)...

That became this shoe for the masses...

Totally different right? Tisk tisk Miuccia.

Now I may be speaking prematurely, and I hope I am. I've only seen the runway heels in person, not the runway wedges so MAYBE they didn't change them too much. Fingers crossed!

I will, of course let you know as soon as I get them in my greedy little hands.

Bebe Fall 2011 Runway Show

I don't really do runway coverage since I figure you guys can go to one of the big blogs for that... UNLESS it's a show that I designed the shoes for! Like this one :)

These runway shoes are part of my first collection for bebe. They picked this pointy toe pump in lots of bright colors. Cobalt, Red, Fuchsia, Yellow and Black- all with silver metal heels and toe caps.

It's hard to tell from the photos but the pumps are cut super low on the inside... SO sexy! What do you think about pointy silhouettes making a big comeback??

This dress is so cool...

I love how feminine and flirty the bebe collection looks. With that perfect edge of rocker chic. I'm excited to be working with them and am loving their direction!

The boot below is my favorite shoe in the whole collection! I wish there were better photos of the shoes :( I'll try to get some asap...

Loving Prada

These are some of my favorite new shoes that just came down the runway for Spring 2011...

I'm loving the wedges! The mixed materials are really cool.

I love the color combinations too. It's so great to see the return of color to footwear :)

These are SO cool! I love the green and black stripes. The shape of this pump is really sexy and feminine too...

These woven shoes are really sweet and sassy. They remind me of ladies that lunch or the Kentucky Derby.

Crazy colors Miuccia! Ai ai ai!

What do you think?? You like?

Friends and Fashion Week... Fin

Wednesday was my day off from shows so you know what that means...
S H O P P I N G ! !

I got a bunch of amazing stuff but most importantly- THE SHOES!

These Miu Miu's are sweet and sexy! Yes please.

And these? These Alexander Wang booties are ridiculous. They are so high and uncomfortable but SO good...
I need to stress the height here
I mean, seriously. Yikes.

I'm in love. Shoe love is a polygamist love... But it's so good.

On to Thursday which was was the day of my last show. The L.A.M.B. show!
It was so fun and they were really good to me with the seating assignment. Betsey's people shoved me in the 8th row against the wall like a red headed step child, and you know what happened at bebe.
We were second row behind Debbie Harry and Tom and Tony from No Doubt. So cool.

And speaking of cool- look at this! No wait, listen first cause it sounds cooler than it looks.
My picture is on Vogue.com in the "front row" section of their runway coverage! I'm there along with some seriously cool celebs which in turn, made me feel pretty cool myself. Don't tell anyone that I'm really not, I wanna see how long I can fool them ;)

Now am I the only one, or does it look like I sniffed a fart?
I wish the girl that took this told me who she was. I would have backed up, pulled out an oil blotter, and smiled.
Here's my do-over. Happy me.

Anyway, the show itself was so fun and SO Gwen. Prints prints everywhere. I love how she designs things that she wants to wear herself. It comes across as totally her and 100% genuine.
A mix of dance music and classic reggae played loudly while Gavin and the boys from No Doubt bobbed their heads to the beat. It was such a cool scene, just like the lady of the hour herself.

Here are some of my favorite looks from the show

And Gwen herself. Such a cutie!

Gwen is truly amazing and sweet and talented and I am really honored to get to work with her. I'm so proud of her success in design and music and her family. It's really great to be a part of it, even if it's a teeny tiny part. I'm really lucky and I'll never forget this amazing time in my life.

After the show? The after party!

Now for my stalkerazzi photos of the night...

Before the show:
Our seats. My cutie pie little sister Katie and our friend Shin ♥ Oh and Deb.

The boys from No Doubt, there to show support. :)

After the show? The afterparty! More stalkerazzi...

Friends and Fashion Week, Part Deux!

I can't believe how crazy last week was!! It felt more like a month than a week and I am still totally exhausted.
I already told you about the first 2 days and here are the next two:

Sunday the 12th-
Started off the day with my favorite activity.... shopping. Then later, dinner with my sis and my very favorite blogger friends. Wendy B of Wendy Brandes, Princess Poochie of Shoe Daydreams, and Jennine of The Coveted.
We had so much fun it was almost surreal. We had delicious pizza and wine and talked about things like my new Wendy B swear rings, Jennine's amazing forte into the shoe design world and our plans for a flash mob and a possible new website. Total top secret. ;) It was a girls night out for the books. We had such a good time.

Monday the 13th-
First off- The Betsey Johnson runway show!! I was super excited to go and see my shoes on the catwalk. Do people still say catwalk? Whatever.
I was running late and couldn't get backstage for the pre-show excitement and photos. Sorry guys.

RIDE ME? Oh Betsey you nasty gal!! The theme of the show was Tour de Betsey... bicycles! Bets came out on a bike at the end but then got off of it to do her signature cartwheel. When asked she said "as long as I'm on the runway, I'm doing a cartwheel!" I love it!

It was a fabulous fun show, as always. Then backstage I went...

"Tell us Betsey... what was your favorite part about making this collection?"
"Working with my shoe designer, Celine!! She is so inspirational!!"

haha

Betsey with Ciara. Two beautiful women :)

and the shoes!!!

(photos of models on runway- NY Mag the rest are my own)

Later that night......

Wendy invited my sister and I to see her friend and georgeous blogger Stacy Lomman's fashion show. I met up with Poochie after Betsey and we went together.

The show was beautiful and I was honored to be invited! My pictures were only OK so here are some I stole from Wendy...
Wendy's beautiful earring design

My favorite look...

The desiger

and her captive audience after the show

What a fun night!! I felt so inspired and was excited to see two completely different shows.
I wore my spine shoes and got lots of comments on them :)

....Ok so I was going to keep going but I'll have to continue again.... this is getting really long. Stay tuned for more and what I did the next few days!!! :)
