about 4500 miles

im sitting here, with the feeling that i want to write about the last month, tell people about it, but i really dont think its gonna happen. i wanna thank specific people, that put us on, put us up, and people we met. i had been keeping a kinda diary on my phone, but once again Apple have stitched me up. i lost all my data yesterday, including about 30 'voice memos', recordings of ideas for songs, i had about an albums worth of ideas on there. totally gutted.
it was a real hard month, but a rad one also. i had always wanted to be on a tour with a photographer, someone that would document everything, but its not something that really happens much. so it was rad to have stephen mcleod from artrocker join us for about 5 days. he was a total fucking pleasure to be around, and a rad photographer. im awaiting a big folder full of his pictures, maybe i will post a few up here when they show up.
it wasnt long after he left, that benjamin thomas jumped in the van. he stayed with us for a few days, hanging out, and taking some rad pictures. i think the highlight of the tour for me, was in the aviation section in some museum, in a childrens corner, there were some 'dressing up' clothes. again, awaiting pictures.
some nights were on cold, hard, dark floors, the kinda place where frogs land right between your eyes at about 4:30am, other nights were in luxury golf houses, where you can have a sauna and jacuzzi at 2am while your friends drink cava from crystal glasses.
james penny, bassist in hyhi, booked the whole thing himself. what a hero. robin brought the head flicks, and chris brought the sweat. together they were a half hour of power. thanks, boys. that'll be fine.
thanks to vans for bands, im not sure this would have been possible without you. im no frank hater.
arni played a big part in this tour. but he probably plays a big part in every tour. jen long, ioana, zi and the derby brigade, hymns and taz, heather steele and joaquin pheonix, PABH, &U&I, tall ships, tangled hair, everyone and army, hannah at the fighting cocks for the emergency cola, jimmy evil/nice, delta sleep, barney, jules and everyone that made the aldershot show my favourite SASO show i ever played. im telling you now, there i people i owe thanks to that i have forgotten, but the last 30 days merged into one sleepless blur. you know who you are. thanks.
so now i find myself in a situation i havent been in for a while, not since before the last st. louis tour. i need to get a job. im saving for some gear, i have a lot of projects lined up that requite me to be equipped! so im not going to play much until february when i leave for a month long trip round mainland europe with tubelord. until then im going to work, earn, spend and WRITE. there will be the odd show, but nothing much.
in a bit.
