A Lovely Tag

Happy Sunday, ladies. Hope everyone has had/is still having a good weekend! The BF and I have taken it easy this weekend and didn't have much on the agenda, so we went picnicking, took a few walks and cooked a few good meals. I think weekend pancakes are so much more satisfying when you can make them at home (thank you, Bisquick mix!).

Nothing to write home about, but here were my outfits this weekend (yes, I do have like twenty pairs of khaki shorts):

Many thanks to the wonderful do-it-all mom and fashionista Melissa from A Working Mom's Closet for the "Lovely Blog Award" tag! I am supposed to reveal 7 facts about myself and tag 7 other bloggers.

Here's my 7 completely random facts about me:

 1. I love carbs with a fierce passion and I don't mean that lightly. I've bought whole baguettes before and eaten them within a day all by myself. If I buy a big fresh loaf of bread from the bakery, I may very well eat the insides out of it in one sitting, because I've done that more than once!

2. We didn't get our first computer in my life until I was in junior high. I believe it was a 486 (does anyone still remember WorldPerfect and that dangable bright blue screen? Argh!) and it was also around then that I went onto the Internet for the first time - dial-up baby! My first true online experience was through the chat site Talk City where you can enter in group message rooms and "chat" with people. I had zero idea what I was doing at the time, but I did make up a fake personality for myself and made virtual friends with this personality. I'm embarassed to think of that now with the reputation that chat rooms have for being a haven for creepy people, because I can't help to think that I might have been one of those creepy people!

3.  I had Lasik surgery a few years back to correct my vision and that has changed my life. I used to be completely dependent on contacts or glasses, and actually started losing my vision back in elementary school. You have no idea how awesome it is to be able to wake up each morning and be able to just see!

4. I attended a specialized science high school, but science was my worst subject (I barely passed physics and am pretty sure I only passed chemistry because my teacher felt bad for me - seriously).

5. In elementary school, I once stole a Sweet Valley High book from the local supermarket. I was wearing my big winter coat, found myself alone in the book aisle while my dad was checking out, and pocketed the item. I couldn't tell you why I had done it as my dad would have easily bought the book for me, but I hadn't gotten caught and I was not a repeat offender.

6. I am a hearty eater and not typically a picky one. However, I can't stand to eat stuff like cottage cheese, oatmeal or apple sauce - visually and textually they resemble already chewed foods and I just can't get past that!

7. I can't sing, I can't dance, I can't play any musical instruments. I took one year of piano lessons when I was little but gave that up because I lost interest - same for ballet. In junior high, I had the option of picking band or Latin for an elective and ... salve, mihi nomen est Lisa. Sona si Latine loqueris!

Here are the lovely ladies that I tag for this award (it's always so hard to choose for these things and sorry! if I name someone already picked from someone else):

♠  Pamela from ginger girl
♥  AppGal from Musings on the Mountain
♦  Melanie from Unravelled Threads
♠  Aimee from all things aimee.
♥  Fallon from Better With Smiles
♦  Becca and Ashley from Free Honey
♣  Diana from OneCraftyFox

Cherries

Thank you to the lovely Lady Cardigan from Fashion Daydreaming for this sweet award. Please check out her blog - Lady Cardi doesn't take herself too seriously and has a wicked sense of humor as she maneuvers through this thing we call fashion.

1. Thank the person that gave this to you.
2. Copy the award and put it on your blog.
3. List 3 things you love about yourself.
4. Post a picture you love (e.g a person you adore, etc)
5. Tag 5 people you wish to pass this award on to.

As for three things that I love about myself:
  • I like to go with the flow of things and be open to compromise - important in professional and personal lives.
  • I'm not afraid to act like a total goof - it's good to laugh with myself.
  • I'm not afraid to work.
And a picture I love, hmmm ...

OK, this is probably a cop-out picture, but this Robin Necklace from the Etsy seller circ is gorgeous.
Probably a little more than what I need for my lifestyle, but I can't help but to ogle.

At least it's not a picture of food, which was my first inclination (because I loves the food),
or the BF, which was my second (sorry BF, but you're currently away and the food is still here).

As for the tag - once again, there are so many lovely bloggettes out there and it's so difficult to choose. I think this time I'll tag some gals I didn't catch during the last go-around:
  •  Amy from kelinda.KELINDA (OK, I've tagged you before - but it's your BIRTHDAY and you're fabulous)
  • Tippy from Tres Tippy (only partly because I want the entire contents of your closet and wish you and I were the same size)
  • A Bigger Closet (for so many reasons, and because you're the only person I've seen to successfully pull off the slouchy silk cropped tapered pants from the JC winter collection)
  • Alicia from Cheetah is the New Black (I love your blog title and you instantly had me hooked)
  • tinypaperheart (you capture the little details of life so beautifully - a picture is worth a thousand words)
And a special thanks to Eek! for tagging me with the Sunshine Award. I love her carefree sense of style and she always seems to be having a blast.

First up, Boden is having a sale right now - 20% off plus free shipping and returns on all regular-priced items. Use code WD25 when checking out (it's also right on their home page) - offer expires April 1.

If you ladies are looking for fun summery prints in bright colors - go to Boden stat.

Second, I would like to give a big THANKS to Peggy from She Hath Done What She Could for the lovely blog award! Peggy is a great mom with a fearless sense of style and nose for bargains - check out her blog!

1. Put the logo on your blog within a post.
2. Pass the award on to 12 bloggers.
3. Link to the nominees within your post.
4. Let them know they received this award by commenting on their blog.
5. Share the love and link to the person from whom you received this award.

I agree with Peggy, there are so many lovely blogs out there - especially ones that brighten up my day.

I want to tag everyone, but that'll take all dang day, so I'm going to ping some great bloggettes who may not have been tagged yet via the Peggy via the Pam routing (because both of them have already covered so many of you lovelies!):

Fallon from Better with Smiles
Elaine from Clothed Much
Sharon from elisharon
Kristen from Some Hot Dishes
Joann from Sidewalk Chalk
Lady Cardigan from Fashion Daydreaming
e. from I'd Wear It.

Happy You, Happy Me

I'm soooo late on doing this! But an eternally flattered and gracious thank you for the lovelies (Ady, Dea, Kelinda) who tagged me for the Happy 101 Award.

Here are 10 things that make me happy in no particular order:

1. Trashy Reality TV
I admit it - if it's trashy and on TV, I'll probably like it and watch it (other people's drama is so much better than my own!)

I've watched (and full-on enjoyed) the Jersey Shore, Girls Next Door (with the original gals), Top Chef, Millionaire Matchmaker (almost all reality TV from Bravo), I Want to Work for Diddy, Rock of Love, old school Real World, Sweet Sixteen, True Life, Life in the Fab Lane and am super-excited about the new season of the Real Housewives of NY. Let the fashion and catfights begin!

Oh Hef and the girls ... and Kendra not eating fish because it is called "fish" ... and Bridget loves horror ... and Holly wants be Hef's baby mama ...

2. FOOD
Who doesn't love food?! Food makes the world go round! I love to cook (I wish I had the time to do it more!), I love to eat (I make time to do that), and I love to read and watch stuff about food.

I (probably shouldn't) proudly admit I can usually out-eat the BF in almost any occassion. I love all types of food and especially love to try new foods - not Andrew Zimmern-style, think more Anthony Bourdain. My personal comfort foods are noodles (all kinds, but especially the ramen noodles, mm, mm), NY-style pizza, sushi, Cheerios, pho, Cheetos, and French bread. I am a carb-fiend.

One of the things I really enjoy about cooking is food prep and watching a recipe come together. There is something really soothing about washing and chopping vegetables into their needed shape and then cooking the sauce down to its concentrated flavor and deep color.

Mm, ramen ... and sometimes I have strange cravings for the 10-for-$1 packs they sell at your local supermarket. Chicken flavor is my thing.

3. Playing Dress-Up
I consider getting dressed for each day as "playing dress-up." Partly because I'm a fashion-schizo who is still trying to find her own style. Partly because I think deciding what to wear should be fun. Partly because I love getting inspired by what people wear around me (that includes you, you lovely fellow bloggees).

4. Travel
I don't like the process of getting there, but I like when I am there. Between traveling for fun and work, I've been lucky enough to have visited places in the world I could previously only dream of. Heck, I even like driving around and looking at houses, neighborhoods, getting the vibe of a place.

Me in Vegas!

5. Sleeping
I don't sleep enough. I often need a sleep-aid to help me fall asleep at night and I hate getting up in the mornings (so not a morning person). But I do get myself up. And I don't sleep in that late on the weekends either because I don't want to waste my "free" time. I'm the one who doesn't allow myself to get enough sleep most of the time. But those brief moments when I am perfectly warm and snuggled in my lovely comfy bed are the best.

6. Being Comfortable
One of the first things I do after coming home from a long day out is change into something comfortable. It is not usually cute - pajama bottoms and tanks with sweatshirts or a robe are sublime lounge-worthy clothing in my book. Nothing like being a completely comfortable and loose schlub in one's own home.

Comfy Lisa = slipper socks.

7. The Fam
There's not much to say. I love my Mom and Dad to death. I love my big sis and her lovely family. We are a small bunch but I know they love me dearly and I would do anything for them.

My beautiful big sis and my nephew.

8. The BF
We've been together for what seems like forever. Literally years. We aren't into the anniversary stuff so we don't keep track of how long we've been together or when we first got together - but I can't imagine life without him and though we've been through a lot, we're still together.

9. Shopping
The usual suspects: J. Crew (duh), Anthropologie (double duh), Forever 21, Boden, Gap, Banana Republic, Ann Taylor, Nordstroms, Zappos, Endless, Ebay, Ebay, Ebay ...

10. Acting Like Myself (goofy is good.)

Look how happy I am ... those are mostly dollar bills.
