The Talk

You would think after a little unintentional break from blogging that I would come back with a banger outfit or something really hardcore to share...not really.

My outfit isn't even worthy of pictures which is why I decided to Jedi mind trick you with my favorite mural backdrops.

Did it work?

Did you overlook the fact that I just have on a black maxi dress and a hat (to conceal my wet hair)?
I do heart the back of the dress. Kinda ZEXY in an "oh, this is just a quick dress to throw on to go pick out wedding bands and drink adult beverages" kinda way.

No?
*shrugs*

In other news, I'm getting married next month and out of the blue my mom arranges a dinner to chat with the fiance'.
I have no idea what she is going to talk about.
She's always full of tricks...that lady.
He thinks she is going to ask if he knows Jesus Christ (he does).
I eased his mind. I know my mom.
She's going to ask him to teach her how to Dougie.
He won't.
Because he can't.
Then she's gonna say, "Oh. Well...do you like Nicki Minaj? That girl is smart. You know she's going on tour with Britney Spears."
He's going to look confused.
And then she's going to then tell him about Nicki Minaj's life story...you know...because she saw a special on MTV about it.
He will look confused.
And she'll laugh.

Then say, "Ok, well my show is about to come on at 8, so let's wrap this up."
That's all.
That's how my mom rolls.

 Maxi dress: Marshall's
Jessica Simpson Leopard flats (love)
Urban Outfitters Fedora
Straw bag: Charming Charlies (old)

*Umm...I really did have that conversation about Nicki Minaj with mother a few weeks ago. (rolls eyes)

Happy Valentine's Day

I promise you this wasn't an intentional Valentine's outifit. I was flipping through my People's Style Watch magazine this week and stumbled across this pic of Julianne Moore rocking pink and red and loved it. Mainly because I had the exact pieces in my closet. Once upon a time, I would've never thought of this combo. Is it odd that even with this color combo, it's still plain to me? Hmph.

Vintage Christian Dior jacket
Thrifted Ralph Lauren blouse
Zara Skirt
Jessica Simpson heels
Stolen Borrowed men's belt

Those of you who follow me on twitter know that I went to the Frankie Beverly concert for Valentine's weekend where I witnessed a plethora of zoot suits, jheri curls and platform zebra over the kneee boots (ridiculous). I didn't get to go with my intended date but that's another story for another day. I did however enjoy Frankie nonetheless:)

(this pic looks like I am pissed off...I wasn't:)

Happy Birthday to my sister!
Happy Anniversary to the The Franklins:)

Thanks for everyone who is supporting SFAM, we have some goodies to put up this week so make sure you check it out. I will also have the winner of the I Got Wired Charm Necklace this week.

Thank You!

Rocking the Turban...I know some people are over the turban but I kinda love it. I'll be over it soon though. You know how I get!

Turban: Beauty Supply Store
H&M Dress and Trench
Leopard Tights
Jessica Simpson Heels
Thrifted Sash

By the way...I would like to announce that I'm a beast. I actually went to the gym at 5:30am! I went to a spinning class. It started at 5: 30am...I walked out at 5:45am. I swear I'm no punk but those bike seats are NOT made for me! I did not leave the gym though...I stayed and got on the treadmill.

Yay me!

Juanette and I decided to pull off the Marie Claire look. (Her secret weapon is that she has a crinoline under her dress for the "full dress effect"...My secret weapon is that I am JUST plain "full"!)

And don't forget to shop SFAM's Closet! Thank you for the support we are getting through emails and twitter and facebook! We already have orders to keep us busy! I am really aiming to be my own success story instead of reading about them...and SFAM is one HUGE step towards that!

GFS: Christ Chic and The Night Before

I wore this to church...and to eat pancakes... but the most important part was church:)

Ralph Lauren Blazer
Zara Skirt
Stolen Borrowed men's belt
Jessica Simpson Heels

My dog might refuse to bark (not because he can't but because it's beneath him) but he's got "hops."

The night before...same shoes...I went to a birthday dinner.

( I bought the random black sash from Goodwill)

I was thumbing through the Marie Claire magazine and got inspired to rock my trench to breathe life back into one of my favorite strapless dresses.

Have a great week!

Too Sleepy To Give This Post A Title

P.S...That's really a dress I'm wearing. Decided it looked better as a jacket.

Thrifted Anne Klein double breasted dress worn as jacket.
Jessica Simpson Heels
JC Penney Cargoes
Target Tshirt

I've got some good stuff coming up for you guys next week...stay tuned!

GFS Series: Christ Chic

I was forced to get dressed  for church in exactly 20 minutes...or I was going to get LEFT!
So, I just kind of remixed some of the pieces from the last few posts to make an outfit.

Not loving any of these pics either:(

I've been left before. When I was in high school, I went to the football playoff game for my school and I went with my dad. Well, when I got there...I wanted to walk around the Astrodome with my friends. That's what everybody did at the games, right?

(Vintage coat, Zara scarf/skirt, BEBE sweater (super, super old), Banana Republic fedora)

This was before cell phones....I think I may have had a pager/beeper at the time. So, my dad told me to meet him at the 50 yrd line seats at the end of the game...which I did, but that fool wasn't there! I am walking around the dome frantically thinking surely he wouldn't leave me. Oh, I forgot one thing...my dad WORKED at the school I attended. After about an hour of walking around...I got a ride from one of my friends who had to take me all the way home.

(I wasn't even going to post these pics bc they don't wow me but I wore it for the Lord so it has to be good enough  you guys. Amen.)

My dad was there. Sure was. Chilling. Watching Thundercats. Didn't say a word to me. I was so mad and embarrassed because the whole school heard about it. He told me he left early because they were losing and that if I had sat my "fast butt" down, I would've known that. What could I say? Nothing.

For that reason, I can get ready quick, fast and in a hurry!

(Sorry for the lack of posts, but it's been cold and I need another tripod. I will do better:)

Roomies

(Tracee Ellis Ross)
If I had a low enough IQ to sign up for a reality show like Jersey Shore...I would request to have Tracee Ellis Ross and Victoria Beckham as roommates so I could play dress up in their closets!

(Victoria Beckham)
This outfit is a hybrid of what I would look like:)

I went out to celebrate a friend's bday at a jazz club but got nervous because all I really own are "teacher" clothes. That's when I called Juanette (a blogger turned friend from Dallas) and she styled me over the phone. The only requirements I gave her was that I wanted to wear my hair in an "updo" like Tracee Ellis Ross and rock my leopard heels

Grace Jones Tee: Zara's
Jessica Simpson Heels
JCP Cargo Pants
Thrifted Tux from Juanette
Vintage Clutch
Earrings from International Festival

(I'm liking this hairstyle...it's a good protective styling option)

(Here's the fiance. Side Note...You will never see a pic of me with a glass in my hand...I might become president one day:)

Worth the Wait

H&M CoatDress, JCP Necklace, Gifted clutch, Zara's Tights, thrifted belt, Jessica Simpson heels

If you follow me on twitter then you would know that I sat in line for 45 minutes to get some chicken from Frenchy's (the best chicken in Houston). You would think I would have just left because surely it's not worth the wait. You're wrong. It was worth it. But I'm tired...and full. So, I'll just leave you with the worst pics ever. It was dark and my tripod broke on me and my food was getting cold.

Ah well...like I said, the chicken was worth it.

And I have the NERVE to walk in a Diabetes marathon on Saturday morning!
