TGIF

(Pour La Victoire Sandals found here...although I got mine 60% cheaper at Marshall's)

Sorry for the delayed post. I actually wore both of these outfits last week but just never got around to posting. I wore some really cute outfits this week but to be honest...I just couldn't muster the energy to take pics. It's such an ordeal because I have a digital camera (that I'm grateful for) but only takes one pic at a time with the self timer. Imagine me taking a picture...smile...click...then running back to the camera for the next shot. It gets exhausting:) This was not one of my favorite weeks. I am glad this week is over. Period. The. End.

(You've seen me wear this dress here and here. It's one of my faves from H&M from a few  years ago. I actually altered the neckline. It was orignially a crew neck but the "girls" needed some air so I made it into a square neck)
I saw this Kate Spade Dress on the Neiman Marcus site and thought to myself..."Self, you have a  floral, frilly dress...wear it!"

(Did I mention that I'm on another self imposed shopping ban?? Yep. First of all, I'm poor so that should really be the reason. But the real reason is I'm supposed to go to Virginia in July and low and behold they have 2 H&M's in the area. Since, we don't have them in Texas...that's always a treat. Plus, it'll be my own little reward for losing how ever much weight I lose by then...so yeah...no clothes shopping. Let the Games Begin!
(I've had this top from Anthropologie for a year or so. I actually forgot I had it. I am really into the rolled cargo pant look so for some reason I threw this together. I don't particularly like the proportions of this outfit together but I'm a school teacher...who's judging me but me? I must say that I am in love with this belt from Target. It has no buckle. It's basically a beaded rubber band)

Question of the Day: What sorts of things would you do if you could be as outgoing and uninhibited as you wished?

*By the way, my self imposed shopping ban does not mean that people can't buy stuff for me. Just wanted to be clear on that in case anybody was feeling sorry for me.*

Mathematics

Good church + a great meal + great company + Stupendous shoes= An Awesome Sunday:)

Don't sleep on Marshall's:)

(sorry for the ashy toe...I had them on all day)

School Girl Chic

Ralph Lauren Blazer via Marshall's (Kinda in love with it)
Limited Khakis (hand me down from my homie Taneca!)
Shirt from Target (I think it's really a "beach cover up" but I love the length and how thin it is)
Scarf/Marc Fisher Shoes via Marshall's
Hat from Urban Outfitters...I think...it's so old
The outfit looks much better in person...the details on the back of the jacket make me want to stroke it while singing Killing Me Softly in Spanish to it.

I very much felt like a cross between a school girl/school boy in this outfit...but I liked it:)
(These are actually wide legged Khaki's but "old school" rolled them up like I did in middle school! I'm not a fan of light colored pants but I so didn't care today)

Sorry for the lack of posts this week. I've been busy losing weight...and by losing weight, I mean puking my guts out from a stomach virus or a touch of food poisoning...not good! This was my first attempt all week to get dressed in a decent way. Slowly getting my energy back so today, just pictures...no witty stories:)

.....Oh wait...I was reading this great article (when I wasn't in an Imodium AD induced coma) on bloggers in the current issue of Vogue and it mentioned the "target" audience for most successful bloggers. So here is what I assume all of my readers/lurkers/followers have in common...

1. They YOU eat real food.

2. You have to check your bank account atleast once a month. Let me explain this one. I gage how wealthy people are by if I think they check their bank accounts to see where every penny goes. For example...Oprah doesn't HAVE to check her account. The rapper Coolio (yes, exactly)...checks his account on his Cricket phone! LOL

3. You agree that my afro puff, thick hips, witty banter and worship of heels and pencil skirts make me a candidate for the Nobel Peace Prize for Financially Challenged, Big Dreaming Bloggers!

4. You too think about how much weight you might lose when you are sick from stomach viruses/food poisoning.

5. You giggle atleast once while reading a post of mine or atleast nod your head and said..."That girl is working it".

I digress. This was supposed to be just pictures:)

I FINALLY MET OPRAH!!!

Well not exactly...okay... not even close but I'm one step closer to being a success story on Oprah. I have been featured on Mustard Seed Collective's blog! I am so excited. It's not a big deal to you, but it's a big deal to me. It means that someone other than my family reads my blog!

Here I thought my sister and friends were the only ones who read my blog...and by "read"...I mean look at the pictures only! (cough, cough)

Click here and read my little interview! This could be the first step to me getting out of debt.
Here is my Plan!
1. Be featured on Mustard Seed Collective website.
2. Gayle (Oprah's BFF) is surfing the net and stumbles upon my feature.
3. Gayle tells Oprah that she has got to read God's Favorite Shoes blog!
4. Oprah sends for me to talk clothes.
5. When I get there Oprah will surprise me with a book publishing deal or a job on her O' Magazine writing staff.
(Remember, this is all in my head, none of this is real...yet)
5. I will be so funny, cute and witty that she will invite me for different segments on the show.
6. Oprah will ask me to be in her "inner circle" with Gayle, Andre the hairdresser, Nate the design guru and Stedman!
And BAM! I made it!!!! It could happen!

So thank you Adrienne at MUSTARD SEED COLLECTIVE...you are my first step in that direction!!

Just Kidding...unless you are OPRAH...then I am serious as a heart attack!
But really, go check out the feature! This is my First Feature! I. AM. SOMEBODY! (Thank you Jesse Jackson!!)

Thrifted Jacket/Belt
Anthropologie Summer Dress
Jessica Simpson Shoes
Marshall's Textured Tights

What a difference tights make! These babies are going to help transition my summer clothes into the fall!

Textured Tights from Marshall's. And I promise to stop wearing these shoes!

Click here and Go Check out my Feature! Then come back and tell me what you think!

Are you are a follower of mine yet? You should be! I'm going places! (going a little far with this feature thing huh?!?)

Shoe Therapy

There's nothing like a good shoe to get you out of a funk...that's what I tell myself atleast:)

I am flabbergasted at myself for owning anything with Paris Hilton's name on it but these gray suede pumps could not be denied. The fact that Paris Hilton gets paid to do nothing secretly angers my soul but I'm a sucker for pretty details on heels. I also have become mildly obsessed with finding all kinds of cheap textured tights this fall.

How hot are these! Once again, I can't believe I am wearing a shoe by another rich airhead... Jessica Simpson. I fought the urge to like her shoes for the simple fact that she tried to bring back wearing MOM jeans last year. But I finally gave in and I am kinda in love with all of her shoes. I can't tell you how close I am to putting these on my kitchen table as a centerpiece!

So, I had a horrible weekend yet I was forced to go to my good friend's bachelorette party. I couldn't dare miss it but it meant that I had to put on the performance of a lifetime. My shoes were there but my head wasn't. Of course, bachelorette party means club...which means my slow death. The fact that I was taking photos of my shoes INSIDE the club should let you know how enthused I was about being there.

(...don't get me wrong, I shook my BOM BOM to keep up appearances. That's what good friends do:)

Random Thoughts While in the Club

1. I am way too old for this.
2. This is so not my element.
3. Why did the DJ mix a Michael Jackson song over a Tejano Beat?
4. I wish I had some Double Stuffed Oreos in my Purse!
5. MyLeopard Shoes ARE HOT!

6. My Leopard Shoes Hurt!
7. I clearly have no "going out" clothes.
8. Does everyone in here shop in the same mall?
9. Is anyone noticing that I am taking pictures of my shoes on the zebra sofa?
10. I could have been atleast 15 minutes into the R.E.M. stage of sleeping by now.
11. How many people are going to church tomorrow?
12. Am I going to church tomorrow?
13. People who stay in the club until it closes are lame.
14. What would happen if the DJ stopped playing music and started praying over the microphone? LOL!

15. My Shoes are HOT!
16. I need a zebra sofa in my house.
17. I am so glad that it's illegal to smoke in clubs now.
18. I should start a Club Coat Check business for extra cash. (don't steal my idea!)
19. I hope I don't run into one of my students.
20. Why is that lady across from me atleast 8 months pregnant and grinding the wall?

Bonus: **COULD I BE ANYMORE LAME?**

** by the way, those are leggings not jeans that I am wearing:)
*Sorry Jessica Simpson and Paris Hilton if you are reading this...I know you are not airheads...you can't be to make millions from saying "That's Hot" or "Is this chicken or fish". I think you are actually brilliant to have suckered America into buying things with your names on it. I respect a good hustle. Play on Playettes!*

I Hate Stripes...

I hate wearing stripes but I wore them anyway. I'm trying to find ways to let go of all these rules that I've force myself to follow all these years...except wearing CROCS...I WILL NEVER ROCK CROCS!!! I would rather skin the bottom of my feet with a dull contaminated razor from the days of slavery and walk barefoot over the heads of 12 porcupines than wear CROCS! (do you get the picture now?) LOL

At any rate, here is just an in between time post until I have something super earthshattering to share.

Dress: Calvin Klein Sheath via Marshall's (2 years ago?)
Shoes: Nine West via Marshall's (last year perhaps?)
Necklace: F21
Bracelet: Gift from my Sister
Belt/purse/Cardigan: Thrifted
This isn't an especially postworthy outfit, I feel pretty ordinary in it..can't be fly all of the time, now can I? :)
I'll just call it my "professional" look so that I don't bang my head against the wall for finally accepting that I am getting older! Michelle Obama would approve of this ensemble though, don't you think? I am gonna have to rock my Prince t shirt and Skinny jeans soon, so I can feel cool again:)
I'll spice it up for the rest of the week. Let's call this a Mundane Monday Outfit Post:)

Keeping My Promise

I promised you that I would post pics as I continue my "no repeat any clothes to work for a month" challenge. Since it's humpday, here are the outfits that made it thus far.

Again, my personal challenge is not to repeat any item of clothing for a month. Simply because I only reach to the first items of my closet and rotate the same clothes.
Monday:

Top: H&M (from trip to Philly earlier this year)
Purple Belt: Goodwill
Cardigan: Calvin Klein via Marshall's via THE CLEARANCE SECTION
Cotton Pencil Skirt: Target (last year)
Shoes: 9 west (striped/fabric pumps)
Tiffany's Necklace: Gifted

Tuesday and Wednesday...

Tuesday:
Top-(thrifted) I got a little creative. That is actually a dress I got from a vintage shop last year. I usually wear it as a dress.
Belt- Charming Charlies (5 bucks; last year)
Pants- Gap, Wide legged cotton/linen blend (2 years ago)
Cardigan-Target (last Christmas)
Shoes- Steve Madden Bollywood Sandals (that's the name I gave them)

Wednesday:

Dress: H & M- I got during my visit to Philly in January (I actually had it shortened)

Jacket: Gap (stretched denim) 3 years ago

Shoes: THOSE INFAMOUS SHOES ( I had to try them; but they still ate me feet alive so I brought changing shoes

Bag: Goodwill 4 bucks! The above outfit is what I am wearing Thursday. It's actually a suit I thrifted for 6 bucks. 100% Silk. I fell in love with the skirt. The jacket with the skirt is a bit much. I kind of felt like a deaconess! I thought I was bold enough to rock the suit with a modern twist but I just couldn't. All I was missing was my tambourine and some holy oil. I liked it but I just couldn't. So I broke the suit up and I must say that I got quite creative and liked the result.

Thursday:

Suit: Thrifted for 6 buck

Belt: Goodwill

Top/Jacket: Anthropologie (earlier this year) ( I saw it on sale last week for 24 bucks, darnit!)

Ruffled Top: Target ( wearing two tops was totally not planned but it works for me)

Shoes: although you can't see them but they are purple pumps from last year
You like? I told you that I am trying to be a great example for this challenge. I am getting quite creative.

I'll post the next two days' wardrobe later this weekend...and if you are wondering who took my pictures in my classroom...yes, I made my students take them. What? What else are they there for?!? LOL

...Still in a funk but I'm hanging in there. How are you doing with the challenge?
