All Aboard!

Just a quick weekend post.

Thrifted skirt worn as dress.
Kind of obsessed with that whole strategy these days.

(Never knew how much I needed a vintage train case until I saw Juanette with one)

*whispers* There is a special treat for those who "Like" GFS on Facebook right now

Defiant

Let's count all the style rules that I'm probably breaking...

(Thank you Ashley of Mocha Mommies for taking pics & being a dreamweaver!)

1. Stripes are a no-no on those "thick in the hips"
2. Top heavy chicks shouldn't wear loose fitting tops
3. Matching is necessary
4. Style bloggers should not repeat clothes (I'm not sure if that's a rule)

I pretty much broke them all. When I was 3 or 4 years old, I kissed a hot stove because somebody said don't touch it. It's what I do. Doesn't always work out for me. But it will never be from the lack of trying:)

Tee/Skirt: Target
PLV "Irina" Heels
I ordered a dress from ASOS last year & it arrived in that beautiful fabric. I decided to stuff one of my large clutches in it.

GFS in New Orleans: Color Block Me

I decided to do some major color blocking one of my nights in New Orleans. I wanted to steer clear of "all black everything." It's amazing how much my style has changed over the years...a large part due to blogging.

It has allowed me to try new things and step out of my once "Banana Republic only" box!

I know you are tired of me wearing my Blue Suede PLV heels but I just love them so! They are so comfy and perfect for any occasion.

They serve me well whether I'm in church or crawling on New Orleans streets after hours...which would eventually lead me right back to church if I'm not careful:)

Target Shirt
Zara Skirt
Pour La Victoire Heels
Clutch/bracelet borrowed from Juanette

HAS BLOGGING CHANGED YOUR STYLE??

Next New Orleans post coming in a few days...

And don't forget about the Houston Blogger Meet up this Saturday! March 26...are you coming?

The Easiest DIY on Earth

I've been wanting to pull this "Cheryl Cole" look off for a while. I am kind of obsessed with all things "flashdance", trench coats and spring...in no particular order.

I thrifted this men's sweatshirt and decided to DIY it instead of trying to buy one. I think I cut the "neck" too wide...but it's a DIY sweatshirt...who cares? Not me.
I threw on a knit hat (too dark to tell), chunky earrings and my Pour La Victoire heels:)

JCP Cargo Pants

How did I do?

(Cheryl Cole...thanks to Erin...I know who she is:)

THANK GOD FOR THE WEEKEND!!!!!!!!!!!

GFS Feature: Christ Chic and Forgiveness

I went to church today.

(Thrifted Trench, Thrifted American Eagle Dress)

But I think the devil was trying to distract me. Everytime I would just about bow my head in prayer, I would catch a glimpse of a furcoat walking down the aisle! IN 70 DEGREE WEATHER!?!? I promise you Texans just can't wait for even a cool breeze.  I counted 4 fur coats just before the sermon.

The choir helped me regain my composure though. But even that was ruined.  My vision was acosted by atleast three lace front weaves on children in the choir stand. It is NOT okay to allow your kid to look like a real life Cabbage Patch KID!

I made it through the sermon though. It took a second for me to get ahold of myself but I did it. It was about forgiveness. Forgiveness of all kinds. Forgiveness to people who do you wrong. Forgiveness of family grudges. Forgive those who don't even deserve it. Because it frees you.

(Pour La Victoire "Irina" heels, Jones NY scarf, random fabric that I forced to be a clutch:)

Then I walk out after church and saw what had to be a seven year old girl wearing black knee boots WITH A HEEL!

I DO NOT FORGIVE THAT.

(I made a quick shoe/purse change to run errands)

Next Sunday, I'm not wearing my contacts. It's better for everyone involved.
(Converse, Vintage Louis Vuitton Sac Plat)

When One Doesn't Make it To Church

This is what one looks like the night before they should've gone to church...but didn't:(

Met some old friends and new friends out for a late dinner. One thing I know now that I didn't know before but should have known...apparently it's not illegal to smoke in restaraunts. I didn't know that...and now my vintage coat smells like I've been turning tricks with truck drivers.

(My hair is in a super high bun)
But not just any truck driver...the truck driver who wins awards for smoking the most cigarettes in his rig. I gotta watch the news more or would've known that people still smoke in restaraunts.

Thus...my new year's resolution...WATCH MORE NEWS!
(Urban Outfitters Tee/Zara skirt/Pour La Victoire Booties/LV Speedy 35/ Vintage overcoat/Aldo Earrings)

I would also like to share that I'm a genius (not really). These earrings I'm wearing got tarnished because I accidentally spilled Chic Fil A lemonade on them. I was driving and eating. The earrings were stopping me from enjoying my food so I pulled them off and placed them in the cupholder part of my console. Somehow, I wasted some lemonade on them and they tarnished. I went back to exchange the earrings but they were all gone. One would think that I would have just gotten a store credit. Nope. Not me. I went to Walmart and bought gold spray paint and voila...they were reborn.

Happy New Year!

I told you I was gonna give this shirt another chance...much better with a skirt:)
I wore this New Year's Eve...then I ate praline cheesecake. There was stuff in between but that's the most important thing to know about my night...the cheesecake:)

(I thrifted this vintage overcoat a while back. I believe it was handmade. It's quite warm and makes me happy)

(Urban Outfitters T-shirt/Target skirt/ Aldo earrings)

I want to go to the gym but I know it's going to be stupid packed for a few weeks. I'm thinking a nice walk is what I'll start this new year with....after a nap:)

Formal Introduction

I thought you should meet my shoes.
GFS Followers...say Hi to my little friends.
My Christmas shoes.

I'm not sure where or if I'm going anywhere for New Year's Eve but I can assure you that these babies will be on my feet no matter what happens.

Hopefully I will go somewhere interesting before New Year's Day. If that happens, I will do an outfit post.  If not...

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Thanks for hanging in there with me:)
I am so grateful that God thinks enough of me to wake me up and breathe life into me every morning. While I run around this place making a complete mess of things, he just laughs at me and grants me another day.  I don't take that for granted.

I pray for your safety, health and prosperty in The New Year!

My Life According to Good Times

(All pics taken with my Blackberry because I didn't want to look like a loser and look like I was shooting a shoe flick in front of strangers:)

I had to exchange one of my gifts which were some Christmas shoes. I thought I would just pop in and out but the allure of pretty shoes all around just kind of sucked me in for a minute...sixty minutes to be exact.
I tried on these gingham Louboutin heels and I think I blacked out for a minute. I saw myself in so many places in these babies. The price is way past my reality but oh how pretty they are! But dare I say that my toes hurt in them? I said it. They hurt. But if they were a given to me out of the goodness of anyone's heart,  I would wear them everywhere...crunched up toes and all.

I ended up getting these Pour La Victoire "Irina" shoes. When I say I love this shoe..I mean it. I love it. It's hella sexy and comfy at the same time. I did enjoy my time playing in shoes though:)

(Fast forward to the 3:27min mark for the reference)

(If you are regular follower of my blog then  you already know that most of my life revolves around  episodes of Good Times. When I tried on those Louboutin's, I felt like the chick in that episode of Good Times who tried to rob the Evans family. Right before Thelma calls the cops on her, she sprays some perfume on herself and says "Well, atleast I'll smell rich" HA!)

P.S. The pic quality of this entire post is horrible because pics were taken with my cameraphone:(

Christmas Goodies

Scarf/Cardi: Zara
Harem Sweats (sound weird): Target
Hat: Gifted
Boots: Eitienne Aigner
L.A.M.B. Satchel
Aldo earrings

I don't know if you knew this but I am OBSESSED with anything with elbow patches and overall equestrian look.

(Isn't this the cutest! It's a decoupage of my doggie and my heels. Thanks LISA!)

GFS CHRISTMAS LIST...It doesn't hurt to ask, right?
(In no particular order)
Pour La Victoire "Irinia" Platforms (here)

L.A.M.B. "Pounce" heels (here)

A kitchen table!

West Elm Table (Click here)...It doesn't have to be from West Elm. It can be from a Taqueria Arandas taco truck from on side of the road as far as I'm concerned. Just a basic modern table.  I keep forgetting that I don't have a real table. I was reminded of that fact while browsing at Marshall's and they had the most BEAUTIFUL dining room chairs. I paused and looked at them only to remember that I AIN'T GOT NO TABLE MAN! They had two chairs that were the same print as the scarf I am wearing in this post and and two other chairs the same print as those Leopard LAMB shoes above. I'll give you a moment to picture it....waiting...waiting....FAB RIGHT!?!? Must.Get.A.Table.

Blackberry Bold...because my Blackberry Curve is so ancient.
Done. Got an updated Blackberry Curve:)

Stocking Stuffers

Digital Scale (found here) but it can be from anywhere for any low price as long as it is digital.
(weird request I know)

Payments to my mortgage company or towards my car note are also desires all year long. Gift certificates to Home Depot, Anthropologie and ITUNE cards in large increments are also welcome:)Santa...you hear me? Trust me I deserve everything on this list and then some!
