GFS Hairstory: The Interview That Wasn't Supposed to Happen

H&M Dress

DIY RAVEN Bag
Sam Edelman Wedges
Aldo Necklace

I know a lot of bloggers venture into VLOGGING but I vowed that would not be my ministry.
But when you have a pushy friend who forces you to talk...well... never say never. I also have the distinct honor of introducing her daughter to her first Oreo cookie when she was one year old...so I suppose I felt obligated! LOL

Here is probably the first and last video I will ever do!

Quick notes:

1. I did NOT want to do a video...ever!
2. I'm not wearing any make up...(nor do I wear any but still)
3. I have no idea why I was flipping my head like I have cascading locks down my back!
4. I had zero time to prepare!
5. My outfit  pics were taken this morning and this video was done at 7pm...as the day goes on...my hair gets bigger:)
6. I have "bed head" hair in the video because I drive with my head leaned back against the headrest after work. Thanks Kenge for allowing me NO time to fix that! GRRRR!

Enough stalling I suppose...here goes!

Kenge, next time I want a hair and make up crew booked and Evian water in a plastic cup with a silver straw to sip!

Beware, The Plain Janes of the World

If you are conservative, you are going to hate this outfit. I happen to love it! It is one of those "I feel the most me" type of outfits.

From the old school snakeskin glasses from the thrift shop for 49 cents...

...to the DOUBLE Leopard. Umm hmmm. Leopard sweater AND shoes.
(Just so you know, in my house...leopard print is a neutral. Those are my house rules.)

I've worn this dress a trillion times on this blog and I've never thought to wear this until today.

You would think that I felt ridiculous. 80's glasses...not matching. But I didn't. I felt kind of conservative.
Lately, I've really been into mixing prints. I crave it. I need it. Gotta have it!

Like I said, I felt the most ME.

GFS in New Orleans: Santa Fe Chic

Can you believe I thrifted this skirt? It was actually a two piece and I got it for the top. I was really digging the ethnic print of it all. Then for some reason unknown to me, I decided to try on the skirt and slide it up!

VOILA! It's a dress! A dress I love the most!  The print has a Santa Fe vibe to it, don't you think?

I threw on my wedges and a belt and walked the streets of New Orleans. New Orleans is a blogger's dream for beautiful backdrops for pictures. I couldn't get enough of the brick buildings and random spottings of grafitti.

Thanks to The Minister of Style's suggestion we made it to Mother's Cafe where the line was crazy long! I felt just like a tourist taking pics of people while they were working!

Next New Orleans Post coming soon...

The Big Easy

I had a movie day with my nieces. I only got them popcorn if they agreed to take my outfit pics.
I didn't buy them candy because they didn'tell me my hair was flying all over the place.
That'll teach them:) HA!

I'm off to New Orleans for a wedding. Have you been? What places do you love to go in New Orleans?
What must I see/eat/do?

GFS Recap: Texas Style Coucil Conference (Day 2)

(Katy from Kansas Couture spoke on the TXSCC panel. She did an awesome job!)

Day 2 of the Texas Style Council Conference proved to be quite informative and fun. There were panel discussions for bloggers and plenty of time to make new friends.

Katy and Erin chatting.

My dear Kyla from Blue Collar Catwalk...also an awesome panelist!

(F21 Tshirt, Urban Outfitters pants, Sam Edelman wedges, borrowed clutch from Juanette)

Chastity from Curvy Girl's Guide To Style and I took a break before all the classes began.

One of the highlights was a photography lesson by Kendi (Everyday) and her hubby Brian. I promise you they are hilarious together! And Brian is kind of a photography phenom...in my opinion atleast:)

A practice shot during class.

I had a blast and met some hilarious and talented people. For example, One of my favorite conversations the whole weekend included a discussion about Quaker summer camp with Laurel from Trophy Boutique. Trust me, that conversation deserves its own post!

Comedy Hour

I'm a teacher which means I get my daily dose of comedy.
Throughout the course of the day, I encounter alot of material fit for a Chris Rock comedy hour.

Here is just a taste...

1. A student was crying hysterically in class. I sent her friend her out to console her and they BOTH came back crying! WTH!

2. A 8th grade student asked me how to spell "dumb." How should I feel about that?

There's more but I've forgotten it already. Plus, I'm not trying to be a hot topic on The Wendy Williams Show for dishing about my job and then having to defend my Constitutional Rights as a blogger.

Nope. Ummm Ummm.
"It ain't wurf it Ms. Ceily"

(If you're new to this blog, you should know there alot of quotes from The Color Purple or Good Times. Know that and you will fit in just fine!)

SALT

No dramatic story about my outift today.
I made some whipped red potatoes.
I put too much salt.
Massive headache.
Now, I've gotta go lay down.

(My facial expression in this second pic makes me giggle...I so wasnt' trying to do that:)

H&M Dress
Trench Coat stolen borrowed from a ten year old who doesn't appreciate that I'm a stylist and picked out cute "back to school" clothes for her. So, now I wear the trench. No plans to return it either.

Necklace: courtesty of  ...Love Maegan!

P.S. I used to say I RUE the day that  food will affect my body parts. That day is here...but the potatoes were still good:)

Dress Code

(Thrifted Silk Dress/Sam Edelman Wedges/Target Belt/ Necklace by Fashionnette-work.blogspot.com)
Yes, I've worn this dress on this blog before. But not with this necklace, or these shoes or with my hair back. So in my head this counts as being worthy for a post.

I think I got this dress for like 2 bucks when I first caught the thrifting bug. I've been pulling out clothes from the back of the closet to the front lately.

I'm at a new job and supposedly the dress code is "conservative." Like literally...conservative. I don't know how to handle that concept so I just set my own standards for what conservative means. Apparently according to this outfit, conservative means wedges, a purple shirt dress and a huge necklace.

I got a few looks but that's pretty normal for me so I just kept on stepping. I've always been one to break a rule or two, it's too much like right not to.

What's your employer's dress code? Do you follow it?
