Out of Pocket

(Borrowed shirt/Paris Hilton Heels/JCP cargoes/Thrifted clutch/Random necklace)

If you are "fast" and from the South then you know what being "out of pocket" means. My grandmother would always say that when somebody was "running" the streets instead of at home.
(She preferred that I was in a prayer closet somewhere).
I was out of pocket.

I pieced together an ensemble based on what's laying in my trunk or what was lingering in the Mr's house. Hence...the reason I snuck his shirt...again.

P.S...does this look familiar?
Shanda strikes again!
It's my mother in law's train case!

Shanda...Thank you! I love it so!
Check out some of her other work here!

Blah

You would think that a week without posting would be filled with all kinds of shenanigans and whatnots. Nope. Not so much.

(Urban Outfitters Hat/Crop Top, Target Skirt, Thrifted clutch, Paris Hilton Heels, random necklace)

I've been trying to catch up on sleep. Of course, when I have 22 days left of insurance, I'm experiencing the onslaught of a major toothache. Awesome.

This outfit isn't even really worth posting but it's all I've got right now. I'm just rotating the same clothes lately. Don't you hate when that happens? Especially when you have a closet full of clothes!

But no whining and complaining here.

It is what it is.

Until next time! I'm still working on getting my real camera fixed:)

Forgive Me

I promise this is the last time I'm posting me with this skirt! This actually is an outfit from last week. I just saved the post for a rainy day when I had nothing to say but low and behold...my camera is out of commission.
I won't be able to post for a few days...but let this be a lesson in how many ways you can rock stripes.

This is what you wear when your air conditioner goes out in your house and you have to go to the Mr.'s place for a few days. You remix what you already have over there.

Which isn't always that bad when you are remixing some of your favorite pieces...

And sometimes there is a warm, freshly baked chocolate chip cookie the size of a pancake waiting on the stove for you.

Not the worst way to suffer, I suppose:)

Target Tank/Skirt
Paris Hilton Heels
Thrifted vest (from Rufus...he he he)
TIKKR Watch c/o TIKKR
Random chain necklaces
Shades c/o Wanted
Long Heart Necklace c/o Love Maegan
American Apparel Bag

Last time I'm POSTING this skirt...not the last time I'm wearing it.

And when I say last time I'm posting this skirt...I mean the last time this month....okay next month too.

Update: Air Conditon is now fixed but camera is now broken. #fail

Holidays and Birthdays!

(Thank you Pink Stilettos for including GFS in your feature!)

FRIDAY NIGHT
I had a busy weekend. First, I went to dinner to celebrate a family friend's bday. During that dinner, I realized how much I don't know what's going on in the streets. The girls were talking about bars and clubs and hang out spots...and I had NO idea what they were talking about! Whatsoever. I tried to keep my cool and nod my head like I really knew what they were talking then would run to the restroom to write notes in my phone of the places they mentioned! LOL!

Thrifted Tux Jacket c/o Fashionnette-Work!
Zara cigarette pants
Target Tee and Earrings
Nine West Heels
Charles David Clutch

I decided to rock the tuxedo look. Plus it was all black and lately that's all I've been wanting to wear:)

I passed by this beautiful window display at Donald J. Pliner shoe store on my way to the bday dinner at Smith & Wollensky's. Isn't it fabulous!?! Can you tell that there are shoes in the little floating bubbles?

I ran into the lady who put the display together as she was closing up the store. I so wanted to ask her to unlock the door and let me take a pic INSIDE the display!

Here is the fabulous bday Girl, Candace! HOT, RIGHT!!

This is all I want in a classic shoe. As soon as she told me they were by Pour La Victoire, I immediately decided that this is THE shoe I want for Christmas. Hands down! Period. Point blank. Well those and the Leopard heels by LAMB (look on my sidebar for those beauties)

Shoes found here! I NEED them In red! NEED them (size 8 or 8.5 Santa)

SATURDAY NIGHT

Saturday night, I went to a dear friend's Christmas party. Still wanted to rock all black but with a little funk thrown in there. Hence the statement earrings from ALDO and the blue Paris Hilton heels.

I wore a different thrifted tux jacket, Spanx Tights, Target tee and skirt and Aldo earrings.

(Here I am sleepwalking after such a busy weekend!)

....and a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO Juanette from Fashion Nettework!

(I want to be you when I'm done being me!)

GFS Feature: Christ Chic!

(Zara's Sweater, ANCIENT Express skirt because I haven't stepped foot in there in about 6 years)

I have an Italian friend who worships Elvis Presley and the Pittsburgh Steelers, loves raunchy gangsta rap, reads her women's devotionals while taking smoke breaks, prefers red soda, decorates for all holidays, likes to fight, exposed me to tomales, displays a Pink flamingo bird in her yard, is renting a moon walk for this year's Christmas party and watches that show Glee...faithfully. Is your Italian like my Italian? My Italian is awesome! What up Lisa!

Well, she shared with me that she watched last week's episode of Glee and apparently one of the characters went to a baptist church and got exposed to a whole new style of dress...CHRIST CHIC!
I immedately knew I was going to use that name for my postings of Sunday outfits. Doesn't it just fit!

I may have told her I that I was going to watch that episode this weekend just for reference but I'd much rather watch Sister Wives...because well...they are SISTER WIVES!  Just the title of that show cracks me up! Have you seen it? The dude/the polygamist is not even hot!
At any rate here is my Christ Chic look for today.  I kept it basic because I really just wanted to wear the hat. The purse...I needed a pop of color so I dug in a drawer and came out with this flower pin and pinned it to my clutch.

I'll announce the winner of the Shoe Clips Giveaway this week!

Man Down! Code 10!

Awww...pretty dress, right? I love it. I wore it to church. I thrifted it in Dallas a few weeks ago.
Ooh look at the pretty Paris Hilton shoes with the pretty, pretty bow.
Hot, right?

NO! NOT HOT!
Literally after this picture was taken. I FELL. AGAIN!!! JESUS! And it was the fall from hell! As I walked away from taking this picture, the heel of one shoe got caught in the deathtrap bow of the other. I crashed full force into the curb. KNEE FIRST! I landed so hard that I literally thought I crushed my knee!

The bf is so used to my tumbling that he thought it was the normal "Oh, there goes Reiko again" kind of fall. Only when he realized I didn't hop back up like normal and saw tears forming in my eyes did he realize that this was a biggie!

So after three days of trying to tough it out. I went to the doctor. I felt it only fitting to document the experience for your blogging reading pleasure.

Doc: Ooh...I love that purple on you.
Me: *blushing yet wincing from the pain* Thank you! I try!
Doc: Is that a Mexican dress?
Me: *thinking "How YOU Doin"* Why, yes it is!
Doc: What brings you in? I haven't seen you in a while.
Me: Paris Hilton pushed me.
Doc: *silence*
Me: Well, she didn't push me. Her shoes tripped me and I fell into a curb.
Doc: Oh no. My "friend" has a hard time with heels.
Me: *side eye at friend*
Doc: I'm going to give you the number to a shoe doctor that can put pads on the bottom of your heels and literally you feel like you are wearing sneakers.

I love my doctor! HE is such a diva! After he gave me the shoe doctor's number, he told me that I probably bruised my knee but if I still felt pressure in another week, to come back and take xrays. I explained to him that I've been stumbling quite alot lately.

After a series of medical questions, we both concluded that I should just be more careful.  Awesome! Thanks Doc!

I told him that giving up my heels was not an option. This blog is called God's Favorite Shoes. God likes flats but he LOVES heels. He told me...God that is. I talked to him last night.  The doctor said I should be fine and proceeded to talk about the most comfortable heels his "friend" swears by.

*side eye at "friend", Doc...side eye*

....it's okay to laugh...and point fingers...and shake your head! HA!

Black Out (Day 1)

This is the first day of my "don't wear black all week so people don't think I am depressed or wonder if I see dead people" challenge. I think most people wear black because of the whole "black makes you look slimmer" theory. As you can tell from the pile of clothes on the floor in the above picture...I just didn't have the juice to take a picture. All I could think about was getting home to rip these clothes off my body and climbing in bed.
(I wore this jacket here and the shirt here and the heels here)
Actually, by the time I turned the corner on my block... I was already barefoot, the bra was already unbuckled and I was on my second shot of Petron.

Sleepy+ dealing with 145 different personalities under the age of 15 +paper work + a 2 hour meeting after work + an hour in traffic + no lunch all day = NO Picture today.

Let's see how I feel about this challenge by the end of the week. For some reason I picture myself at the end of the week rocking back and forth, crouched in the corner of my closet, swaddling all of my black articles of clothing, chanting "Kmart sucks" like Rain Man. (It should be obvious that I'm going through withdrawal:)

(P.S....just kidding about the Petron...I would never drink and drive:)
To avoid being Debbie Downer today, I must say that my mom surprised me with a Leather Fitted Blazer today. I can't wait to wear it:)

99 Red Balloons

This post really has nothing to do with balloons but it is my 99th post which makes me think of one of my favorite songs from my childhood. Remember 99 Red (Luft) Balloons by Nena? I used to love that song. I think I was in elementary school when that came out.

I just wanted to show you my "thrifted trenches."
The above pics are of my London Fog thrifted trench for 10 bucks. I got this trench months ago and took these pics a few weeks ago...just now getting around to posting them out of sheer boredom while fighting against being in a funk.

I thrifted this Vintage Burberry Trench a few months back also...Ten whole dollars:) I am one thousand perecent positive that I didn't tie this correctly. It had too many contraptions and I am one of little patience.

Short post... I know.

Great Song.
