LBD...

There is something about this time of year that gets me all-a-flutter about the party season. And I turn to the quintessential little black dress. Is this iconic item of clothing a must in every woman's wardrobe? I love the drama of it, captured in these wonderful images of some of my favourite ladies. It's no wonder we feel we fall short when compared to media images - so much beauty it makes my heart hurt.

Things of beauty...

Busy busy week...everything is taking pace now as if in sync with the month of November. The work decision: I have to admit I took the easy road. After a bit of soul searching I decided, why make life hard for myself? I work because I enjoy it; simple as that. Every now and then my ego gets the better of me and I feel like I could...in fact I positively should...progress and grow. I was asked to consider a bigger role, something completely different, very much out of my comfort zone. Ultimately though I decided against it. I work part time and this role required a lot more than that. I have made my choices; I want to be there to collect my kids after school, so I said 'no'. Helped along the way to this decision by my trusted confidants who asked that insightful question as they know me so well - 'do you really want to take this on Lou? Think about it, picture the scene...'. So there you go, we live and learn.

And so to beautiful things of classic elegance...

Old school models...

Funny old evening last night...went to bed at 8.30pm feeling utterly exhausted and quite out of sorts. Was it a full moon or something? Anyway, today I feel the urge to just ponder on something distant and unobtainable; things of beauty of the human kind. Its nice to gaze at models - what must it be like to look like that? I know the media images send us all slowly insane with our own insecurities but just for a moment its good to appreciate the beauty of the human form...in its most extreme prettiness.

Christy Turlington by Patrick Demarchelier

I remember this shot - it was on the cover of Vogue, early 90's featuring the 'Supermodels' Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, Christy Turlington, Cindy Crawford and Tatjana Patitz. I used to have it pinned to my wall as a teenager then. I also liked Helena Christensen as the Danish contingent; whilst she does not appear in this picture she was very much of that time.

Right, better get back to reality now?
