From a grocery store, lawyer and construction company to accountants, sign company and shoe store - the list of finalists for 2010 Kelowna Business Excellence Awards covers the spectrum.

"We are impressed with the depth and breadth of Kelowna‘s dynamic business community," said Weldon LeBlanc, CEO of the Kelowna Chamber of Commerce, which organizes the awards.

This week‘s list of finalists is the result of trimming down a longer list of nominees in seven categories based on business growth and development, customer service, employee relations and community service.

"Each of the finalists represents a unique accomplishment that has helped to strengthen the local economy and enrich our community," said Dominic Petaroia of Farris Vaughn Wills and Murphy Lawyers, one of the sponsors of the awards.

Winners will be announced at the 23rd annual awards banquet Oct. 20 at the Coast Capri Hotel.

Tickets are $85 at kelownachamber.org.
