If your closet contains shoes that your family never wears, consider Soles 4 Souls, a fantastic community project that helps the needy in Canada as well as 127 other countries.

Rotary clubs in the Okanagan and Kootenays are working together with all members of our communities to collect new, almost new, or gently used shoes and put them on the feet of millions of children and adults who have nothing. This year’s goal is 100,000 pairs, collected by April 30.

If you would like to donate shoes, they should be fastened together in pairs with elastic bands and dropped off at one of the participating stores before the end of the month.

Drop off places in Nelson are Mark’s Work Wearhouse, Save-On-Foods, Streetclothes Named Desire, Gaia Rising, Snowpack, Hume Hotel lobby, Valhalla Pure, Cydney’s, Shoes For the Soul, Devito’s Shoes, Nelson and District Credit Union, and the Royal Bank.

In Kaslo, you can leave them at J.V. Humphries school, Front Street Market, and the Bluebelle Bistro.

Other stores are also coming on board to take donations.
